About Indian Patent Agent Exam: This is an annual exam that is conducted by Indian Intellectual Property Office, Government of India. The exam is highly prestigious and offers the opportunity to an individual to get registered as an Indian Patent Agent to support innovators in having their innovations protected under the Indian Patents Act, 1970 and Indian Designs Act, 2000. Qualifying examination requires in-depth knowledge of Patents Act, patent drafting skills, design drafting skills, responding to office actions,  claim drafting techniques and a unique way of application of the statutory provisions. The exam is available for those who have degree in science, engineering, technology or equivalent from the University recognized in India.
The exam is getting tough to crack with each progressing year where one could witness many questions that would tinker the neurons to a great extent. This exam requires dedicated study and many hours of intensive reading in understanding the true letter and spirit of every provision of the Patents Act. A qualified registered Indian Patent Agent gets the opportunity to explore several domains including becoming an entrepreneur, teacher, mentor etc. The upcoming exam is scheduled on 5th  January 2025.
