The Intellectual Property Office India has announced the next date of PAE that has been scheduled for 7th January 2024. The pass percentage of 2023 Exam has been only 17% which has by far been the lowest in all these years. Not only the Exam is becoming tough but it seems that the Government is now on the spree of having quality Indian Patent Agents get registered. There has been change in the paper patter too. The questions are not only based on the Indian Patents Act, 1970 but also on various Government initiatives as well. Hence, an aspiring patent agent must work towards increasing his/her general knowledge in the space of Intellectual Property broadly which should cover government schemes, practical know how of patent filing procedures, better claim drafting skills, thorough understanding of true interpretation of statutory provisions etc. It would be rather important to also gain some practical knowledge of working of the Patents Act as that would help in better preparation for the exam. If not, then intensive study along with consistent group discussions would be truly important. In the time to come, India would need efficient skilled patent professionals who can assist innovators. Indian patent agents should truly be able to contribute to the country’s growth story by rendering services with highest level of ethics
